Easy to Understand and Follow Advice on How to Improve Your Online Marketing and Website

Core Social Media Sites

This is a Social Media 101 post that I’ll use to compile a list of the biggest sites on the social media scene for reference. Enjoy:

Social Media Content Tools - Use these to research social media topics.

Blog Sites (yes, I know there are lots but these are early and active sites):

Wiki Sites:

  • Wikipedia – The mother of all Wiki’s – 100 million man hours into the collaborative encyclopedia
  • One Laptop per Child – A great example of how to support a cause in a collaborative method.
  • IBM Wikis – Big time geek wikis for developer. Obviously company supported and encouraged but a nice example of geeks gone wild.

Multimedia Sites for Sharing

Microblogging Services – (or, blogging for the ADD crowd)

  • Twitter – Follow me (scottfasser)!
  • Tumblr - Post and share anything
  • Plurk – Social journal with cool timeline interface
  • Seesmic – microblogging and video

Social Bookmark Tagging – Save this for later!

  • Del.icio.us – yummy way to re-find sites.
  • Stumble Upon – tag, chew, discover
  • Sphinn – great for internet and social media marketers
  • Digg – Vote (or Digg) favorite posts for fun and profit!
  • Reddit – Hard to read popularity contest. I like Digg better.

Social Network Sites – Make a place for yourself online!

I’ll be adding more as I discover and engage. Comment if there are some big ones that you’d like to see here!
